Garshana Silk Ritual by Annushka Healing
This page is a gentle introduction to the
Garshana Silk Ritual.
Here, you can explore my journey, learn how the ritual works, and find simple guidance, video tutorials, and product information — including how to order your kit or individual pieces.

From Silk to Skin
From China to Vietnam
I was first introduced to silk making during my time in China.
Later, in Vietnam, I explored the process more closely — from mulberry, to cocoon, to silk thread.
What stayed with me was the feeling.
The cocoons are so fragile. The thread is incredibly fine — almost like the delicacy of a woman’s skin.
When I touched it, it felt soft and gentle. And in that moment, my Garshana Silk Ritual began to take shape.
From cocoon to thread.
From thread to raw silk.
From raw silk to natural touch.
From natural touch to the skin.
The Ritual
From that moment, my Garshana Silk Ritual began to take shape.
What I had been searching for — something gentle, natural, and supportive — started to come together.
Working with the skin, rather than against it. Through my work, I understand that the lymphatic system has no pump.
It relies on movement, breath, and gentle stimulation. This is where the quality of touch becomes essential.
Using raw, natural silk, the skin is stimulated in a way that feels balanced — not harsh, not aggressive —
just enough to support the body’s natural processes.

It begins with something very simple.
Life — feeding, growing, transforming quietly.

From here, the cocoon is formed.
Delicate and protective, holding something much finer within.

I was first introduced to silk making during my time in China.
But it was in Vietnam, where the tradition is still alive, that I truly began to understand the process — from mulberry leaf to cocoon, from cocoon to thread.

I observed how each thread is drawn, stretched, and guided.
Slowly, carefully — shaped by hand.
When I touched the natural silk with a raw feel, I paused.
It wasn’t what I expected.
It wasn’t perfectly smooth — it had texture, character. Alive in a way that felt real on the skin.
There was something in that feeling.
The softness… the strength… the delicacy of the thread. So similar to the skin itself.

From cocoon to thread.
From thread to raw silk.
From raw silk to natural touch.
From natural touch — to the skin.

Lotus ritual instructions
1. Garshana
Using your Garshana silk gloves, gently massage the skin with upward strokes towards the lymphatic areas to support natural flow and circulation movement.
Begin with the feet and legs, using circular strokes around the knees and ankles, and long, upward strokes along the legs towards the groin.
Massage the abdomen, lower back and hips/buttocks using gentle circular movements.
Continue your strokes towards the inner elbows, underarms. Use circular movements around the shoulders.
Finish with gentle downward strokes along the neck.
Perform 5–10 strokes in each area.
2. Cleanse
Take a warm shower to cleanse and soften the skin.
Avoid using body scrubs.
3. Nourish
Apply a small amount of the Botanical Massage Oil into your hands.
Warm the oil between your palms and gently massage using slow, mindful movements.
4. Optional Lotus Blend
For single ritual place a small amount of Botanical Massage Oil (approx. 1 tsp) into your palm.
Add 1–3 drops of the Blue Lotus Blend, warm between your hands and apply.
To pre-blend the oil, add 10–30 drops to a 100 ml bottle and gently shake.
Adjust to your preference. For a more aromatic blend, up to 30–40 drops may be used.

Full Body Reset Ritual
This is a deeper, full-body ritual you may choose to do once a fortnight or once a month.
A gentle reset for the body — supporting circulation, lymphatic flow, and connection through touch.
Begin with the feet
Start at the soles of your feet with light, rhythmic strokes.
Gently move through each toe using soft twisting motions.
Use small circular movements around the ankles.
Legs
With long, flowing strokes, move upward from the feet towards the knees.
Around the knees, use gentle circular movements.
Continue upward along the thighs, always guiding your strokes towards the body.
Use soft circles around the hips.
Abdomen
Using light circular movements, work across the lower abdomen.
Guide your strokes upward, towards the centre of the body.
Hands & Arms
Begin with the palms, using gentle strokes.
Move through each finger with soft, mindful movements.
Use circular motions around the wrists and elbows.
Then continue with long, upward strokes towards the shoulders.
Shoulders, Neck & Head
Use soft circular movements around the shoulders.
For the neck, use gentle downward strokes.
Lightly stimulate the scalp with soft circular movements.
For the face, use very light, sweeping strokes — keeping the touch gentle and minimal.
Back (as comfortable)
Reach as far as you can, using gentle sweeping strokes, guiding movement towards the heart.
To complete the ritual
Finish with long, flowing strokes:
From the feet towards the heart
From the hands towards the heart
From the head towards the heart
Allow the body to settle.

Garshana - A Gentle Silk Ritual
Garshana is a traditional practice of dry body stimulation using silk gloves. It is not about vigorous or harsh brushing. It is about gentle, rhythmic movement that supports the body's natural flow.
Using textured silk with a natural raw feel, the skin is gently stimulated helping to:
-
support circulation
-
encourage lymphatic flow
-
gently exfoliate without irritation
-
bring warmth and awareness back into the body
The movement begins at the feet and continues upwards, following the natural pathways of the body.
A few minutes each day is enough to reconnect with your body
